The challenge

First, coffee. Then, understand what crypto actually means. Then, more coffee. Then, understand it well enough to make it accessible and easy to understand for others, with an engaging visual identity around it.

Blockchain started as a peer to peer network. It was and is all about creating safe transactions and building a trusted community of financial disruptors.

And now, our internal thought process: blockchain → peer to peer → secure → exchange → links. LINKS. HybridBlock is the powerful link between crypto and its users.

We took a look at how links were visualized before. Then based our logo off of the most popular link creator: a code.

Iconography

We crafted a series of unique icons, built on a custom grid system. We kept it bold, square, calculated.

Colors and fonts: the Matrix, re-reloaded

Fun fact #1: traders love using light UI during the day and a dark one during the night, because it highlights the numbers and stocks stronger.

Neon colors it is.

Fun fact #2: modern monospaced fonts are optimized for readability on a wide variety of devices and reading environments.

Roboto Mono it is.

More crypto journeys. Less head scratching.

It got real real when we got to the UX/UI part. It was a lot to take in. But after watching a bunch of competitor screens filled with numbers and stats and stocks that change before we could even say “Huh?”, we finally caught on to how it all works.

So we optimized what we learned so others could pick up all this new information waaaay faster than we had, and make it stick.

Last but not least, we took type, colors, and custom iconography over into the apps for Hybrid Basetrade and Hybrid Exchange.
